Happy New Year but what car???
Discussion
Happy new year to all of PH
I'm looking to change my car in the next 4-8 weeks and could do with a bit of advice with reagrds to cars on the list and any that i have forgotten. I'm looking to spend £40k max although can go over if needed if it was super special but would rather not. anyway the list so far is:
Aston Martin V8V (coupe or roadster) love the looks and always been a dream car
Aston Martin DB9 the most iconic Aston but not as sporty as V8V
Lotus Evora meant to be fantasic to drive but worried about heavy depreciation
Bentley CGT lovely, slightly dodgy image and maybe too GT'ish for what I am looking for
Maserati Granturismo beautiful but possibly too GT and max end of budget
FFRR maybe in a few years once i have a 2 seater alongside it
Discounted:
911 Turbo too similar to what i have now
Ferrari 360 running costs and image are putting me off
I will be using the car as my daily driver for 3-4 days per week covering 11k per annum. i've also looked at a Sagaris but probabaly too hardcore/in your face for day to day.
so thoughts please along with any other suggestions

Im in a similar situation, looking to spend around £45 in the spring on something similar.Ive fancied a Nissan GTR for a while now but they seem to be depreciating a bit too much for my liking and running costs are also pretty steep.Dont know if they are your thing though.Im 37 so astons and bentleys aren't really my thing yet.
I am now maybe considering something a bit older which is not going to drop much below £40k.Ferrari 360 is a possibility for me but as you say not much use for you if your doing 10k miles a year in it.
Have you considered an audi R8? Not quite £40k yet but i rekon by the spring time there will be a few around at £45k and should be fine as a daily driver.
Cant really think of anything else apart from the various porsche 911s of course, the V8 vantage is probably your best bet.

I would say stay away from the 360, its going to be difficult as a daily driver. Also avoid the v8 vantage - I have driven one and couldn't live with the relative lack of torque, sounded amazing though!
for 40k you could buy a tidy db9 and use this everyday, I was considering one last year but will have to wait longer. I think its a fabulous mix of good looks, v12 engine with decent low-down grunt, amazing interior, gorgeous sound! It won't accelerate as quick as say a gtr but beats it in every other department
another option worth considering is the mazza granturismo

I think they'd make quite a nice pair!

Already thought about the GTR but think it will be too detached to drive and cannot stomach paying that much for a Nissan. I'm veering towards the V8V over the DB9 as its meant to be the better drivers car. The XKR is a good shout especially in cab form.
How bad is the lack of torque in the V8V ? Any direct comparisons with the Evora?
