Hey guys,

Thanks for taking a chance to look. I'm now approaching 20, and am looking to get my 2nd car. I have been driving round in my mums old Ford KA up until now and is really time for a change! I have a budget of around £3k for the car (not including insurance), been having a look around and a few options are:
- Focus ST170 (Insurance is around £1.9k though)
- Fiesta ST500 (I think this was the one, 2006 and insurance was around £1.2-1.3k)
- Audi A3 1.8T (Insurance around £1.3k again)

All of these are sub 8 secs to 60 and would like to keep it around that if possible, as well as looking good too (nothing can be worse than the KA though!). So just looking for some suggestions, will be my daily drive but don't go more than 10-25 miles normally so not too far.

Cheers smile

I'm the same age as you. Looking to buy something quick, however if you wait till you're 21 (i know that seems like a long time!) insurance takes a MASSIVE dive.

For example a 996TT is less than 2 grand for me at 21.
Audi RS4 about the same.
Evo 8? 1500 quid.

Some other suggestions -

BMW 330Ci - http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3434478.htm

Honda Integra - http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3330171.htm

Mazda MX-5 (PH favourite!) - http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3520843.htm

MG ZS - http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3068336.htm

Nissan 300ZX - http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3518069.htm

Insurance shouldn't be a killer on at least the BMW, the MX-5 and the ZS. I'm only a year older than you and when I ran a quote for a 330i it came back at around £800 fc.

Thanks for the reply Dan, unfortunately I am giving my car to my younger brother to learn to drive in/as his first car so keeping it for another year isn't really possible. Paying a bit more on the insurance for a year wouldn't bother me too much but would love to keep the insurance sub £2k as even that is expensive compared to the £600 on the KA!

Actually, I got a quote on a BMW 330ci, as my business partner has one.

Was £2,000 for a year. That's a lot different from £800! Where was that from, as I think I just used some comparison website.

Ok dude, in that case.

Try something left field.

Think Volvo T5
Bmw 535i (old one!)
Honda Prelude/Accord Type-R
Porsche 944 (classic insurance through footman james if you phone up)

Basically anything that chavvy little twunts are attracted to!

My C70 T5 is a few hundred cheaper than Focus ST170 / 9-5 Aero / S60 T5 on Insurance for some reason.

Thought about something like a classic Mini or Triumph GT6 or similar? Classic car insurance is pretty cheap, my Mini has a list of modifications as long as my arm and it still only costs £600 fully comp.

I had an ST170 and whilst it's a good car, fairly quick and with sorted handling, it is more if a daily rather than weekend toy. The ST badge will also push insurance quotes up...

Shame, but they have dropped price wise into the Barry zone (perhaps this is what is pumping insurance prices). Ironically they are not all that to modify being N/A...

I think you will fit right in here. How far can you throw a can of Red Bull?

Hmm?

Yeah the ST170 seem to have that appeal to the "Barry's", was one of the main reasons why I was looking for something with different associations, while still being quick enough and in the insurance range.

Im not a fan of the looks of the ST170. I like the Fiesta ST though. What is a 182 like on insurance?
