Just as the title says - post what your first car was. As a 16 year old who is very close to his first driving lesson, I'm just curious to see what everyone on here had smile.

Mini 1000. JVT 355v. Black with a brown interior. Cost me £200 to buy and &300 to insure Went like a bat out of hell. I broke the steering column doing handbrake turns in a New Forest car park. Sorted that and then about 2 weeks later, a Transit hit me head on (100% his fault) and wrote it off.

Rover 90. Can't remember how old it was, cost I think, 40 quid (no pound sign on my keyboard here). It was black with brown leather seats (smelled lovely), and had overdrive on 3rd and 4th gear. After a while, I chopped it in for an Anglia 105E with wide steel wheels and Paddy Hopkirk seatcovers. Yeah!
And yes, I realize that this reply has outed me as Methusalahs older brother :-)

This:

It's a Quantum 2+2.

Kit car insurance was the only way I could afford to run anything vaguely decent. It cost me a less than a basic Fiesta or Metro would have done to insure and drove very well. I've technically still got it, but it had lichen growing on it the last time I checked.

Actually, technically a Saxo was the first car I drove regularly too. It was a 1.1 on hard, skinny Michelin Energy tyres that seemed to lift-off oversteer almost as readily as a 205 GTi. smile

Renault 19 RSI in metallic lazuli blue. It was like a pseudo Renault 19 16v - had sports seats and steering wheel. I stuck a set of 16v alloys on it. Sadly the asthmatic 1.8 litre engine was around 50bhp shy of the 16v's.
Very comfy car though and well made considering it was a renault. Appears to be a rare beast - have seen very few in my time

A £600, 1995 Peugeot 306 1.9d that the previous owner had removed the cooling fan from, in addition to it having a hole in the radiator.

25,000miles in a year, not one breakdown and sold for a £300 profit to some guy who came and bought it on a rainy evening the dark!

Best car ever.
