For all the under 20 driver on PH,
How much do you pay for insurance?
What class area are you in? (guide available http://www.carinsuranceexplained.com/car-insurance... )
What do you drive ?
Who Are you insured with?
Also how old are you?
Reason I ask is I am yet to see a quote for anything reasonable under 4k, Iv tried the various methods but that seems to be the bare minimum, I'm curious as to how you guys get on.
Thanks

I'm 22, and at Uni, but because I'm not one of the fortunate people to have rich and excessively giving parents, I am basically without a car for the time being. Even though I did work before coming to Uni to save up some money.
When I was driving it was on an old series Land Rover, and the insurance premium was somewhere around the mid-hundreds if that is any help? That was with a classic insurer at the time too, who I now believe no longer touches anyone under 25.
But if I was to get insured on a typica little hatchback, like Corsa, Clio, Punto, whatever (as long as it's approx 10+ years old), then I'd be facing just short of a grand. Anything reasonably fun or quick, then it's easily into four figures.

1) Can't get quotes most of the time, cheapest one I got was £6,000 from Admiral... on a 1l Panda...
2) No idea, but it's North London which probably explains alot :/
3) Tried all sorts, no luck on anything
4) Tried calling a few companies, filled out online forms for alot of companies and tried search engines, no luck

I seem to be relatively cheap at £2300 in my name with parents named, fully comp with 10,000 miles, although my excess is an eye watering £1100
I live in rural Scotland so that may help,
I have a 2001 Mk5 Fiesta Zetec S, got it at 17 on the day I passed my test.
I'm with Swinton but originally got it from go compare.
One thing I would advise is that if you are saying its in a locked garage don't that raises the quote by £600 IME

Not sure what class of area, got a link?

Drive a 1998 Mondeo ST24
Insured with Admiral
Add parents on as named drivers, increase excess (massive compulsory one for young drivers anyway), say car is on drive rather than in garage etc etc.
Let me know if I can help!

I am paying £4000 for my peugeot 106 1.1.
I dont actually live in a very high risk area, and the car is parked on my driveway which is down a private drive.
My policy is with Admiral multicar, and both my parents are named drivers on my car, and im the main driver.
Im 17 years old.
OUCH!!!! if you're 17 try Quinn direct. They were great with me on my first car when i passed.I dont actually live in a very high risk area, and the car is parked on my driveway which is down a private drive.

I assume it's to do with people being unable to park in tight spaces, and the resulting bumps/tins of paint tipping over
. Also, parking on the road is cheaper again than on the drive (IME).
To the OP, I'm 19, live in a low risk area, and pay around £900 with Elephant. Drive a Hyundai i30 1.4 petrol - seems to be the cheapest car I can find to insure funnily enough.
Also, cheap to buy doesn't mean cheap to insure, I think I read (probably on here) that under £1500 the costs of insurance go up.

I know, its a LOT of money, and i dont even drive like a typical teenager.Ive tried most insurance companies, the lowest i can get is £3500, but with the multicar insurance, my parents have saved £400 on their insurance, and £1000 on my brothers, so theyre still making a saving on mine by going with the more expensive company :S

I can't afford a Hyundai I30 or a Kia Picanto

You have a few years no claims right? Otherwise you must live in one of the best places on earth to get a premium that low on a car like that. Not sure what class of area, got a link?

When I was 18 (1996) I insured a 205 GTI for a not unreasonable £650. Insurance for you youngsters seems a little excessive these days
