HI all

A boring car, however...

My2003 Peugeot 206 2.0 HDI has struggled to start for a couple of winters now. I have recently replaced glowplugs and battery - although the plugs and battery did need replcing that didnt solve starting cold starting issue. I have since had a starter motor fitted and now it jumps into life!!! However, since then on startup from cold the needles on instrument panel flicker and cental locking clicks a bit, then the computer sometimes says 'passenger airbag deactivated or airbag fault'
Please can anyone help?

regards

Chris

Are you sure you're getting power to the glow plugs when you turn the ignition on? I've had to change a few glow plug relays on Peugeots.

It would also be worth checking the output on the alternator and checking the earth straps.

Just thinking,
Whilst I havent checked what you recommende would it just not struggle to start if there was no power getting to glowplugs?

What exactly do you mean by cold starting issue? I just assumed it was cranking over and harder to start when cold.

HI

Sorry,
Since the new starter motor last week its great at starting.....only problem seems to be the needles flickering and central locking clicking and the odd mention of passenger airbag deactivated / airbag fault. It all seems fine when I restart or when engines warm

Another vote for checking the body grounds and the earth strap from body to engine too

Exactly the same car, very similar issues. My one the dials bounce slightly (not the best description - the speedo rises to 5mph and falls again, ditto revs) and the dash 'bongs' at me.... Always starts mind, eventually.

Not worried about it too much, but interestingly it makes the same 'bong' if you disconnect and reconnect the battery then activate the ignition?

Cheers for responses chaps

Its got to stage where it needs to go if its going to cost money as it required almost £500 over last two months - may be worth getting it checked though.

much appreciated and fingers crossed
