Had a new windscreen fitted in my mk1 Focus yesterday. Now, when driving along there is noticably more engine noise and a slight cold draught coming from the edge of the windscreen, about half way up on the drivers side.
As soon as I started the car I could tell it was noisier, almost as if a window was slightly down.

I can't see anything wrong with the fitment of the windscreen. All seals are in place, although the black plastic cover at the bottom of the screen is slightly lifted - but I think it was always like this.

Should I call the company and ask them to re-fit, or is it something I could fix myself?

Personally, I'd call them back

This.

The black plastic cowl should be clipped (two on the n/s half and three on the o/s) and the n/s half should have a line of butyl under the edge to stop water getting into the pollen filter.

Was all that taken off when the screen was replaced?

Glassman I've spoken with Joe and he's popping over on Tuesday. Sounds a really decent chap on the phone biggrin

Many thanks for the contact!

Yep get them back out to look at it.

My guess from your description is a gap in the adhesive down the side. As Glassman says, the scuttle cover piece should also be flush to the glass, there are clips and a thin strip of adhesive undoe the edge to fix it tight to the glass.

The problem is that the cover is removed at servide time too to replace the polen filter. With it coming off so regulally they quickly get pushed out of shape and no longer sit flush.

Thanks guys. The windscreen was terribly steamed up this morning which confirmed the seal isn't perfect.
I rang the glass company & the chap on the phone confirmed that they've had quite a few complaints about the windows they fitted on Wednesday. I guess the wind and rain has caused quite a few problems.

They will come out to look at it next week.

Windscreen replaced this afternoon. Immediately I can tell it is sealed properly. Sadly the heated windscreen no longer works. The light comes on but the revs dont drop as they usually do. I'll check the connections when it's light but I may have to call them out for the third time.

The best time to check it would have been while they were there.

Fingers crossed they've forgotten to reconnect (and not broken the solder from the screen.)

Double check the connections for the neutral terminal under the scuttle. On the old focus's the bolt that clamps the terminal can sometimes snap. Some people will then just leave it loose.

If it has snapped there are 2 options. Get the bolt drilled out and re thread the hole for a new bolt, or simply undo one to the side that's a fixing bolt for the wing.

It nay not be anything like this as a fault just something you could check.

yeah if it worked before then they have damaged something fitting the new screen, get them to pay to fix it.
