Hi just wondering if anyone has ever received any free car stuff and how they went about it.

While planning our summer trip to nurburgring a friend mentioned someone he knew had received free honda servicing for life and a free set of tyres for his motorbike by giving both companies positive emails when he returned from a road trip.

From this one of my mates sent out a load of emails basically saying going to the nurburgring in the summer any help with parts appreciated and has received a set of EBC bluestuff pads for free as well as a forge dumpvalve. Lucky sod!

Just wondering if anyone else has had anything like this?

To be fair I was given a car for free, because I happened to have parked in the right place. I got out of my rather tired 2000 GTV (1970 model) and a bloke passing told me he was sick of the one in his barn that had seized 4 years ago.
I towed away, but never got it going frown

I would guess he has a turbo and is looking to tune the car

Alright, look. Honda doesn't service cars, it's dealer network services cars. So how do you suppose this happened. Do you suppose Honda thought "that's a nice email" and immediately emailed its entire dealership network with the missive "if this chap comes in we want you to forgo several hundred pounds each and every time and do it for nothing"? Or maybe they picked one dealer and said "don't bill him, bill us. Just send us invoices, as many as you like for ever, and we'll pay them because, after all, it was a super email".

I'm sorry mate, think about it, it didn't happen.

I got a free Vauxhall Cavalier once. In retrospect, I should have asked for money to take it off their hands.

I wrote a nice polite email to Porsche once just to say that although I loved my Boxster, I no longer had it so they did not have to keep writing letters to me about winter services etc.

Within 5 minutes my phone rang and a nice chap from Porsche offered me the use of a 997S for 24 hours. I must of done about 500 miles in it on the day.

2 x Fortnum & Mason's hampers.
1 x weekend for two at the Chewton Glen.

How? By being bloody good at complaining objectively and turning my frustration and gripes into how the manufacturer and dealers could improve their product and service.

When i was a kid we used to write to companies like ferodo and gulf to get free stickers

we also used to complain to rowntrees that their kit kat etc was faulty/mis-shaped(honest it was!) and get freebies back that way too!
