I want to paint the inner parts of my rear brake discs (obviously not the parts which the pads touch..), as they are getting a little bit of surface rust.

I have looked at hammerite, but I think it takes quite a while to dry and I would still like to use my car the same day if possible. Any recommendations? Ideally drying in an hour or so?

Anything you use thats quick drying wont last long im afraid, as with all paint its all in the prep.. so a decent primer after you've prepared the surface, all of which dont add up to it benig a quick job frown

Hammerite probably not heat resistant though? Get away with a caliper, but the edges and centre hub of a disk? Not so sure it would last.

Would be interested to know what works myself, as I too have the same "surface rust" problem on my disks.

If no better suggestions come up ill just try hammerite.

Both them products look perfect. Plastikote seems easier to locate!

Grab some caliper paint from halfords (own brand). It goes on really easy with little/no prepping, is touch try within a few minutes and lasts years.

Hammerite mixed with thinners. Best if it's the aerosol sprayed in to the cap and a bit of thinners added in. Hand paint it on. It will smoke a bit when it gets hot for the first time, but it'll be fine after that.

It's the cheapest exhaust manifold paint that I know. wink
