I saw the same recently, guy with a CL600 had a similar overload and did not seem to be causing any issues...

Depends on the loads going through it, worst case it will blow the fuse.

Something like this would be better.
You could fix the socket end under the dashboard and there'd be no strain on the plug

Think the sockets are rated at 3A. Simple to work out how much current you are drawing.

There should be a fuse in the first socket.

Transit?

A 4-way adaptor stuck to the recess on the left would look better. Worst case it will take the fuse smile

Cheers peeps, if blowing a fuse is all that might happen then it's not a problem. It's a works vehicle and I just don't want to get blamed for melting the electrics. hehe

I agree, the problem is we move from van to van so attaching it isn't really an option. smile

electrically yes load dependant - most sockets are protected by a 10 a fuse so 120 -130 watts should be ok

mechanically it's going to be straining the springy bits somewhere along the line, - surely as have been suggested a three or four socket 'bar' would be better

more like 10a - especially as the 'none lighter' sockets increasingly fitted to a lot of cars ( with a lighter and ashtray an extra cost option) often have 120 w max printed on the cap

I walk past a 306 which looks like a telephone exchange, loads of red LEDs blazing away all night, sat nav in plain view, leads going off into the glovebox etc

Amazed no-one's broken into it.

Is the one under the dash (sort of next to the bottom of the glovebox door) in use as well ?
