My Starlet Upgrades
Discussion
Hi,
Basically I currently own a EP82 Toyota starlet gt turbo, but I am looking at upgrading next year. The few conditions are no more front wheel drive (4/rear only) and equal to or faster that 6 seconds to 60 as I don't want to go slower than the starlet. I've been looking at many things, so if you have any advice on the cars below please share it. Or if you think I have missed something please let me know! My budget is up to £10000 for car and insurance, bear in mind I'll be 21 with 3 years no claims should this happen so it still isn't really cheap! Here is the list:
R33 GTR
R33 GTST
R34 GTT
Supra single/twin turbo
Rx7 turbo
Celica st205
Subaru sti
Those are the main contenders. Things I've considered but don't want are
Pulsar GtiR
Golf's
350z and all other z,zx,sx etc cars
S2000
I have considered evos but haven't looked deeply.
So as I said any advice on those or suggestions I'd appreciate very much!
Thanks

I did think of m3's but I did no research into them. The thing with pulsars, is they aren't that common, and them you still have to find a good one, it took me ages to find a good starlet. Plus if you buy one that's already been modified who knows how much the people know who fitted the mods. And if you buy standard, they are harder to find and will cost a lot more to do up. The supra is deffinatley my favorite. Followed by the skylines. But at least with them you can buy standard and they are quick already.
I'd go for the MR2 Turbo as well. Go for a Rev 3 GT-S model and you should see 0-60mph in a little over 5 seconds. Easily tuneable if you want more, but then why would you? They are very fast as it is; I was just reminded this morning as I drove to work how fast they can be!
As much as I love Pulsar GTIR's, finding a decent one seems to be the real challenge these days.

Yeah. I do like that shape mr2 so that's a possibility. I've also been suggested a silvia s15 but they are too much for my budget even though I like them a lot! I'll look into the the m3 and mr2. I am also thinking going from my starlet to a supra will be a bit tricky as it will be my first car that isn't front wheel drive. Now the starlet is quick, but when it wheelspins it's easy to control, and obviously with rear drive it will be harder, especially with no experience. I could go to a track and learn to control it first. I'll have to decide closer to the time.

Or try getting a raggy old S13 200sx to practice, they are good place to learn RWD and quite fun. The MR2 is slightly different, has tons of rear end grip, but it breaks away faster. Front engine cars can be easier to control and learn on.RobCrezz said:

I could do, although it's still £1500-2000 just for learning, it will cost a fair bit and if I broke it or the engine went its a lot of money to loose! Qwerty123il said:

Great fun, cheap to buy and not too bad on insurance.
