4x4/MPV what car

Mrs Z is expecting junior Z two. We also have a freakishly large mutt and we live rural like.
as with most of us we tote all manner of tat around with kids and dogs. Currently Mrs Z has a Rav4- which we regularly struggle with even now. Being an opportunist PHer I see it is a good time for yet more car purchases.....
budget circa £10-12k must be safe and reliable as it takes my most important things around in their daily life
off road bits useful but could do without. Ideally frugal- ish as it will be the camping/ holiday chariot too.

no hang ups about MPV's as they seem to make bloody good sense.....
