Being on the look out for a new motor it's funny how I'm drawn to the limited edition or homolgation specials, my favourite being my old r26.r megane, closely followed by my M3csl.

It got me to thinking, what's the best way to get a special on a budget? Staying in Ambleside over new year there was a puma racing that got me searching the classifieds, then there's been the recent focus rs thread....

Over to you guys, pics appreciated thumbup

I suppose it depends what your budget is , an Accord or Intergra type R as as cheap as anything out there ...

Yeah, budget and an idea of what sort of running costs you would expect to pay would help.

Budget limited editions?

First few which spring to mind.

Honda civic Jordan
Rover 200 BRM
Subaru Impreza Colin McRae - although seems very hard to find one for sale.

Type-RA Imprezas are chuffin bargains! Buy now and keep mint. More focused/lairy/capable than an Intergrale/Cosworth and £5k should get a decent one. Utter bargains but ive no idea where prices will be in 5 years given how unloved they seem to be now?

Yeah 106 Rallyes are pretty much the ultimate budget 'special' car. Just don't expect anyone else to understand why you're rattling around in an 18 year old tin with no wheel trims smile

For homologation specials it has to be the group B rally cars of the 80's. Utterly mad and utterly desirable because of it.

I had a Vectra 2.6 GSi estate....one of only 37 iirc.

Vectra ST200's are a very limited edition that are rare..

Why would you when apples spellcheck does whatever the Fuchs it wants anyway?! biggrin

Ok budget, let's say 20 grand, just to keep it interesting.

But.

Not everyone has 20 large & I personally would like to spend less, just remember you don't need to blow the budget, 15 is ideal, 10 great & 5 or below, well that's just hard to ignore!

What special edition for the Connoisseur, you ask?

Why, a Rover 75 Connoisseur, naturally!
