Whilst the new BRZ grabs the headlines and the latest Impreza S206 gets attention too, the new Legacy Tourer concept has been relegated to the "in other news" slots.

I have always quite liked the Legacy estates, being a left-field alternative to the usual candidates but if the next generation looks anything like the concept (which, reportedly, it does), I can see it being a big success whilst the next Impreza is even less inspiring to look at than the current one.

Picture is from Autocar's website where they also report it has a 1.6 turbo petrol engine mated to electric motor(s?) giving the same output as the current 2.5 but with better economy, lower emissions etc whilst still offering 4wd.

Will be interested to see the production model.

What do you think?

Bear in mind that Subaru have a history of utterly cocking up their concepts, BRZ notwithstanding.

Example - new Impreza concept:

looks nice, if a little fussy. i don't think the final version will look quite like that, though.

According to Evo magazine, the Advanced Tourer Concept "behind the silly quad gullwing doors was basically showing off the styling of the next Legacy wagon."

I hope you're wrong, Beef.

The concept looks good.
As the proud owner of a non-WRZ Impreza, the poor reviews (usually just the one that is syndicated) means very good value when bought used.

When the current Legacy estate came out, I thought that it made the previous one look better! (OK, I own one of those too.)

Looks good, but doesn't appear to offer any more boot space than a hatchback if the rear seats are where I think they are.

To be fair its not really that far off. New front bumper would change it completely, but the shape is the same (minus mirros, door handles, smaller alloys and slightly different lights)

Mmmm

Can't see that being popular with farmers

I've gone off Subaru since they became less agricultural.
