We really need to get this car in the UK, especially after the Hyundai SOTW fiasco in the other thread.

This is a real sports coupe IMO

Faster but uglier. Pity. The last generation of it looked better.

Fantastic car. Shame we are mostly the wrong type of potential buyer in the UK for it though. Want proof.... look at how few Nissan 370z's are sold here. There is no viable market for Hyundai to sell this car here sadly frown as few would stump up the cash and live with the high Co2 car tax and low mpg for such a badge.

Shame as I think it's great.

Probably because people would struggle to get past the badge to purchase a performance coupe from Hyundai, unfortunately.

in action vid

They are targeting the 370z as competition...and they have done reasonably well in USA. This should have come here...maybe the time wasnt right..but now I think it is time for limited supply to UK.

Shame they don't offer it here. Had good reviews in the states re. handling, and it looks nice enough inside and out. It has however, what is quite possibly the worst window line of any car ever made.

I quite like it. Either way, it's good to see manufacturers dipping their toes in the performance segment.

Kia are supposed to be the sportier branch of the Hyundai/Kia company, wondering if they have anything in the pipeline? Theyu had some fun concepts a while back (sidewinder and Kee - the latter being a RWD v8)

the 3.8 V6 sells for £18,000 in the USA

If they can offer it for anywhere near that price here I think they might be on to a winner

I don't see a problem with it. It evidently allows more light and better visibility from the rear seats. The whole window shape also looks like a leaping fish. biggrin

I'd have thought the emissions of the 2.0T version wouldn't be too bad and it would certainly attract a lot of people to Hyundai showrooms.

My and a workmate were talking about these today.

Not clear if there is already a RHD version - e.g. for the Jap market?

If there was then it should be sold here; I decree it.

If not I assume it is (as others have said) because of the silly CO2 rules, or problems of marketing, either the customers not believing Hyundai could make a hot car or Hyundai not wanting to be in that market.

Real shame - I could see myself in the 3.8...

Not this again. Didn't we have some idiot recently refer to another car as looking like it had Down's Syndrome? FFS.

Well they wouldn't be able to as they have import duty and 20% VAT to contend with.

You can get a 305hp Mustang V6 for $23000 or £14400 but that would equally not be anything like that price in the UK.
Neither would they sell many with our wonderful VEL system of daylight robbery.

I think that usually translates into £35k+ when it hit the shores of the UK. Wasn't the mustang meant to be really cheap but come to the UK and its almost doubled?

The annoying thing is - providing it's not a lot bigger than it looks in those pics - it's my perfect car:

- RWD

- Open topped boot for the dog

- Lots of grunt from a biggish engine

2.0t is £16k in Germany pre-reg... not selling there though, largely because it isn't a large, diesel estate or a £50k barge.
