Is the Mazda6 a "suave" car...

The relatively new shape that is, around 08.

Friend really wants a high mileage one thinking it's suave/cool. More specifically, white with carbon alloys.

I'm insisting on an ST220 instead!

Which engine/trim? They are a good looking car but White with Carbon wheels will make it look tacky... IMO

2.5 SL 4d

I use the term argument loosely there, more of a discussion.

Is any vaguely modern car "suave"? The term conjures up classics to me.

Thanks for writing this, saves me having to do it. Special dispensation for Aston's.

Bit of a difference between the ST220 and a 2.5 Mazda 6 though, the Mazda will only have around 170ish BHP for a start.

The ST220 wasn't an option, I just butted in with it biggrin

IMO, it's faster, easy and cheaper to maintain, looks great and handles superbly.

A friend of mine is dead set on a Mazda 6 and in the market for one right now. I don't "get" them myself, but I think it's a quite classy looking car, especially in facelift form (post 08 as you say).

Tell your mate to buy the earlier shape 6 MPS - it will cost the same to run as the 2.5 newer model but will have 100bhp more and 4WD.

MK 4 Mondeo would be an obvious alternative, however looks are subjective.

If any car is suave... it will probably be expensive and British

Well I wouldn't call either one 'suave', but of the two the Mazda looks more 'executive' than 'salesman' to me (a little bit, anyway). Would want to be black or grey to make the most of that though.

White with carbon wheels is just going to make it look like a modified Jap car (which it is), which takes away from the executive look.

But similar kinds of mods to a Mondeo (blue with white wheels?) is just going to make you look like a 'rally fan/chav/poor person', and will also remove any sensible or business connotations.

I'm a big Mazda fan, but suave/ cool no! But neither is the ST220, or any other mass produced japo/euro box.
Very good, very capable, even good looking in a lot of cases, but not suave or cool.
In my opinion of course.

Rare as hell though and only made for about a year or two. My wife is considering one but hasn't yet found one with a decent mileage less than 100+ miles away!

How is a Mondeo, a large family car any more suave/cool?? confused

Both are fine motors, but neither are cool.

Sorry, just to make it clear, I don't think the Mondeo is suave at at all.

I think it's fundamentally a better car.

I assume it is an alloy wheel with a carbon fibre wrap on it.

Mazda 6 is just one of the better-looking blandoboxes. But it's a long way from suave - they all are.

Can't think of a modern suave car. But to be honest I can't think of the last time I even typed or said 'suave' anyway. The word even looks odd when I type it.

Suave was last seen as Lewis Collins in The Cuckoo Waltz (and it drove a Pantera).
