Can I ask, do any of you go to the Geneva Motorshow each year? Just wondering if it is worth the trip over from the UK for the day?

Wanting to go this year, but probably on the weekend, does the place get too busy to enjoy (like it use to at the NEC)? Also can you buy tickets on the door without hours of queing, or is it best to order online?

I believe the show is right next door (walking distance) to the airport.

I've only been once but thoroughly enjoyed it. It was busy of course but not too bad, maybe had to wait a minute or two to get a seat in the more popular cars.

You can get there directly from the Airport terminal, you don't even need to go outside and it's very well signposted. You can buy tickets at the door but a very nice Swedish chap handed me a complimentary ticket from his Saab dealership (that ain't going to happen again of course!).

Food and drink aren't too expensive if a little basic - hotdogs and such but there were very large, chaotic queues for this. Might be an idea to take some grub with you.

Go for it, you'll have a great day.

We went last year - caught a 6am flight from Luton on the Friday and as you say, you can walk straight from the airport to the exhibition centre.
Wasn't too busy - very easy to get near most of the cars, plenty to see - we all really enjoyed it. We bought our tickets online before we went.

Just be warned if you plan on going out in the evening - Geneva is VERY expensive!

Yep it is the one show you can really do in a day, plus also make a quick visit to the museum.
You literally walk from the airport terminal arrivals down to the left over a footbridge and there is the exhibition hall simplezzz

Oh and if you park your car (if you drive there) in some of the city centre car parks …they lock them overnight be warned we ended up having to come back in the morning one year and change in the car park as all our stuff was in the car !!! strange looks from commuters as they arrived for work I can tell you as two largish chaps got changed out of the back of a Smartcar smile

I went last year, and my advice would be to try and avoid going on a weekend.

It's just too busy, and there are too many European women who are only interested in trying to grab as many free bag's and other free goodies as possible.

It gets very busy and very hot inside the exhibition centre. Lots of people with cameras standing around taking pics and generally getting in the way.

Go mid-week, much quieter.

Easily done there and back in a day on a cheapie airline, but book now - the closer we get to march the fewer cheap tickets they'll be.

Yes you can buy tickets on the door (in fact, you buy them on a stand just outside, then hand it over to a chap 10 feet away to get in!)

Thanks for the information guys, shame a few of you have said that it is too busy on the weekend because that might be the only option for us, as there are no late return flights from Geneva to Manchester; only on the weekend; going from another airport soon makes it more than a one day trip which was the plan.
