Hi Ben!

No, keep it a secret, they'll never find you.

Why would you not? If you've disclosed, there's no question if it comes to a claim.

It's a change from the manufacturer's original specification, so they'd class it as a modification. Best to err on the side of caution.

I wouldn't change them if I was you as you WILL crack your rims unless you change the wheels as well trust me I have seen loads of cracked rims after the owners have fitted normal tyres to their run flat rims to save money

No harm in calling them up, i would as its not standard manufactures specification. May add a few ££ but worth it to ensure they have no reason not to pay out should you ever need it...

Never heard of that one before and know a fair few people that have gone with the change...

To be honest I haven't seen a mini wheel......yet ..but have Tig Welded numerous BMW and Merc wheels 18 and 19inches that have been cracked after changing to normal tyres onto run flat rims as they are hollow

Really? I've been running std tyres on run flat rims for 7 years and 100k miles on two cars with no cracks...................

Saddens me how 'daily mail' people have become that they would inform their insurer of a tyre change!

Show me one instance of an insurer refusing a claim due to 'non standard' tyre and I will forever keep my peace.

Why would putting non-run flats affect the rims adversely? The force is still being transferred to the same section of the rim in roughly the same area - if anything I would have thought the less stiff side-wall of the "normal" tyre would spread the load along a longer section of the rim, putting less localised stress on it?

Just the tyre and not the alloys?.
Aslong as they're UK spec then no need to declare.

The walls of run flat tyres are a lot more reinforced than standard tyres to support the weight of the car when their flat

Yes I'm aware of that. What's that got to do with it?

it's total rubbish, non runflat tyres dont cause wheel damage. It's just ghost stories to make you buy expensive tyres because manufacturers get kickbacks from tyre companies and save a small fortune by not putting a spare wheel in every car they manufacture.
