I was talking with a friend last Wednesday(11th Jan) and they told me what must be the most stupid idea for a track day car? They had seen a milk float for sale and had idea was to rip out the electric motors and fit a massive V8 or jet engine and using it as track day car! (By the way they build jet powered remote controlled planes). Sadly I saw them yesterday and the milk float had sold before the could make an offer.

Can an of you out come up anything as stupid for a track day car? I cannot wait to see what comes up, by the way I have already seen a Robin Reliant (Funny we say Robin Reliant and not Reliant Robin, we never say Capri Ford! Yes I watched Jasper Carrott).

Milk floats

Built to survive a direct nuclear hit I think they would make a pretty terrible track day car

Spaceframe an Austin Princess, mid mount a nice V8 with a couple of blowers and try to keep it as standard looking as possible.

Wedge shaped one? A Rover V8 will bolt up to the gearbox it has fitted. That's far more mental.

Range rover classic with a 4 inch lift and 35inch tyres - would be interesting.

Keep it stiff

Don't speak so soon! Not ridiculous at all, check out classic car racing, "Tea Pots" have been running rings around bigger stuff for about 50 years!

Really ?

Suspect it would kill the driveshafts in short order and be terrifying !

Has that been done by someone ?

It's the accepted way to fit an RV8 to a mini...

I've never seen one in a princess though.

I have always wanted to buy a Chevrolet Lacetti (like SIARPC) but slot a different engine in, and make it handle better while keeping it looking as standard as possible.

..and as Chevrolet Lacetti start at £1,500. I fear one day I might actually do something stupid. laugh

There's a skip in South Wales that has the oily bits & chassis of a Subaru Impreza WRX Type R.

Stretch limo. Completely fill the stretch part with a massive engine completely innappropriate for a car, like a 50l diesel engine out of a small ship or something. Or two Merlins.

Alternatively, turbocharge and fit slicks to an Outspan Orange or that motorised sofa-with-coffee-table contraption that was often seen on various tracks a few years back.
