Ok now is getting to the time I need to start getting a shortlist together. I only have a few weekends off every 5 so will need to start test driving in the next 2 months ready for a summer purchase. OK im looking for something UNDER £10k. Must be fast, fun and can not be expensive to maintain. I do a 20 mile round trip to work 4 days a week. I live in Fenland so some of the roads are god damn awful. Currently drive a Fiesta ST. Car is fun but not quite quick enough. Ill list a few thoughts and my cons for them so far. Im also 6ft 3 so space is important. Dont want anything with too many miles if possible as I intend to run it for 5 years or so. It will be my daily driver.

Monaro - Really wanted one BUT the cost of items such as brakes is mental
Focus RS Mk1 - Getting old and maintenance may cost.
DC5 Integra - As above plus insurance is supposed to be expensive
Leon Cupra (new shape) - A lot of car for your money and nice power outputs
350Z - Running costs, tiny boot.
147 GTA - Its an Alfa
R27 - Not quick enough?
BMW 130 - So ugly and boring to look at.

I appreciate its early doors and I went through a similar thought process last year but didnt go anywhere as my wife had a new car instead..........priorities ay?!?!

Look past the ugliness and the 130i is a great car with a cracking straight-six engine which has a lot more character than the turbo 4-pots on that list.

I've got no idea, as pretty well every rapid car I've bought has been expensive to maintain.

You're looking more in the price bracket of cars that I bought for my ex, so Civic Type-R?

Most of the list are N/A as that was the preference. I grew up loving the mk1 RS which is why its there and all modern hot hatches appear to be turbo based and the cupra just seems the best VFM.

Is the 130 really that good? It always appeared more of a cruiser that an outright hot hatch much like the Focus ST????
