OK looking at getting a new daily drive in the next few weeks,

My needs are. Able to Pull 2000KG (caravan twin axle)
4 wheel drive. have been taxi for the staff to get into work over the past 3 years during snow. Work in care so it's a must to get to work in all weather. also needs to be higher vehicle so Elderly can get in without to much of a problem

Under 23k. as new as possible so either new, 6 months or a year old. under 10,000 miles.

After the above I want the best MPG I can get, low road tax etc...

Will be replacing my hyundai Santa fe which gives me 35MPG, road tax is £240. but is rather cheap and been a great car for the past 6 years.

Had looked at a Pick up as I may be able to take my bike to track days on it. not sure if that is possible? Also used as back to up Le mans and other events

You will struggle to get a bike in the back of the double cab pickups sold here. It may just fit, but you will have to leave the rear wheel on the folded down tailgate which means having to find other means to secure stuff you have in the bed (ramp, paddock stands etc). Also the bed height of the 4X4s is quite high so it will be tricky loading and unloading the bike. Doable, but not as easy or secure as a much lower van or trailer.

I looked into this a while ago as I was considering a Navara. There is a king cab model which had adequate bed length, but really poor rear passenger accommodation on little fold down seats. Also they were never as popular as the double cabs which means less to choose from and they were not as well kitted out as the top range double cabs.

Only need the 6.5 ft bed with one of those. Used to carry my bikes (with tailgate closed) all the time when I had one.

I couldn't live with the size of them over here though.

Our now sold Defender 110 (5 seat version) SW fitted two MTBs IN the back without even needing to remove front wheels. Just folded the back seats down. Hose down interior (almost) and plenty high enough for handlebars to fit in. And you can park them ANYWHERE!!

Sadly it was a thirsty bu99er and pre 2011 RFL is £460 a year. OUCH.

£23k gets you a low mile post 2008 XS (many toys - heated seats, aircon, etc) but you need to look after them far more than most cars.

For your needs the Kia Sorento is probably perfect - you don't care about the image and should be able to get a <1 yr one with 7yr warranty. Fairly ropey in some aspects (boatlike ride & rough engine mainly) but will do the job.
