XF petrol or diesel
Discussion
Giving buying a used XF some serious thought.
Most are 2.7 or 3.0 iesels. Decent performance and economy. I reckon the car ould do oess than. 10k a year.
So what about a petrol?
The mon supercharged ones seem to offer little performance advantage. The SV8 is a different matter.
With diesel being more expensive than petrol, but with increased MPG, would I really get the benefit of an oil burner with only doing 10k a year?
And is buying a supercharged SV8 going to be a financially crippling but enjoyable experience?
Bear in mind my present car is a petrol turbo that does 28 Mpg on a good day and is in a very high tax band.

My Dad has had a Diesel S for just over a year. Very nice interior/ride quality compared to the various BMWs that preceded it. Typical luxury diesel power delivery in that it's very wafty and doesn't feel that quick until you look down and realise that you're doing serious speeds.
The diesel is a lot more economical at motorway speeds (42-44mpg) but only does about 23-25mpg in mixed driving.
