Second Car - 20 Years Old, 2.5k ish budget.
Discussion
Hello,
Thanks for taking the time to read this thread.
So I'm approaching 20 years old and am looking at changing my car then, after driving around in my small Ford Fiesta for 2 years which is kindly being donated to a younger family member.
Now, I'm looking for something that fits the following (maybe a bit obtimistic?):
- Costs around £2.5k ish mark
- Not going to completely kill me on insurance!
- Quite nippy, 0-60 in the 7-8sec mark if possible.
- Under 10 years old (sounding too optimistic?)
- Not too many miles on the clock, although if all is mechanically good then I wouldn't mind
- Lastly something that isn't going to make me look like a fool
.
Thanks for your help.
Regards

Ah, yes. 3's up in an MX5 is not good!
An E36 3 series of some flavour?
Edit, would have to be an early E46 to be under 10 yrs!

Slightly overbudget. Sure you could get one for less.
Quite small though.
Any good?

Ahh yes, I missed something out.
Unfortunately while being young, I am still involved in ferrying more than one person at a time so will have to be more than a 2 seater

Tell them to walk...I enjoyed my GTV (2 litre) with the same sort of requirements as you.
I will say that although it's a 4-seater, it's not a comfortable experience to travel 4-up.
And the boot is tiny.
But, it was epic fun...and everyone loved it...
What about a 2-litre 156 if you like the idea of an Alfa? They tend to be OK on insurance for younguns too.
