Bearings rarely squeak, they usually 'howl'.
Sounds like a brake issue to me, take the wheel off and inspect your friction material on the inner and outer pad.

If the brakes are binding it should be quite obvious because they'll feel very hot after a drive (easily hot enough to burn your finger, so investigate carefully).

Wheel bearings can squeak. I've been meaning to change our Punto's wheel bearing for ages because it rumbles and occasionally squeaks, but since it only goes to the station and back (usually in traffic), passed its MOT and I strongly suspect it'll be a pita to change I haven't quite got around to it. However, if I used the car at speed or went any distance in it then I would change it immediately - worn bearings can 'pick up' and seize solid with almost no warning, which feels pretty alarming when it happens and is, of course, somewhat dangerous.

I had a rear wheel bearing collapse in the outside lane of the m42 a while back. Not fun.

This happened with my colt. The pads will be getting very low, i was pulling hair out thinking it was a wheel bearing, but agree with the other post that it sounds a lot worse than a squeek.
