Cars which gave birth to a genre

Good morning gents, has been a pretty depressing Monday, I’m sure you'll concur, unless you have been performing the act of procreation on a supermodel and her bodyguard, so I thought why not get another of my pointless threads underway.

Simple rules – define a class or sub-class of car and a picture of the car which gave rise to that genre.

For starters........the Renault Espace, which gave us the people carrier:

Willys Jeep. It was one of these that inspired the designer of the range rover.

No the Willys Jeep inspired the original Landrover. I think it would be fair to say the Range Rover spawned a genre.

The Golf GTI wasn't the first hot hatch, although it may have been the first popular one.

4wd Rally reps for the masses: Impreza's, EVO's, Nissan Sunny Pulsar's GTiR, Mazda 4wd Turbo's, Cosworth 4x4's etc.

The Quattro wasn't exactly for the masses. It was seriously expensive.

Well at best a sub section ie derived from Rally Cars *with* 4 wheel drive.

First production Four Wheel Drive car was the Jensen FF

The Quattro wasn't exactly for the masses. It was seriously expensive.

But it was a Homolgated car that was sold to punters, which led to many manufacturers following suit by developing cars within that genre.

I think I've have at least one of each over the years all except a UR.
