Save Trollhattan Museum Campaign
Discussion
As a follow on from the news article about the break up of the collection of Saabs at the Trollhattan museum,it appears there is a campaign in place to try and save the collection. I realize it seems like a big ask for a museum so far away for most of us but the more members that express interest the smaller membership fees are going to be. Remember at this stage you are not actually commiting to an amount but merely expressing an interest. If it would appear sufficient funds could be raised the collection could be saved.

Alternatively do nothing and let a fair chunk of automotive history drift off to the four corners of the globe never to be seen again for a pittance...

I wonder if the liquidators would be so quick to sell of an art collection or an actresses gowns or something like that?
Just wondering out-loud if they might not want to commit an act of vandalism whilst at the same time robbing any creditors/shareholders of the company by failing to realise the value of it's assets.
I realise they're all crooks and liars - but they could, just once in a while, pretend not to be.

Even as a massive advocate of Saab (I have had a few), the auditors are selling them, closed bids by Friday.
Sadly this is too late, unless you can find a Jay Leno.
That's not such a crazy idea. Sadly this is too late, unless you can find a Jay Leno.
To someone like that the Saab collection would be a pittance.
Now, how do we get hold of Jay Leno?

They are looking for bids to gauge interest, they're not done yet
I've no idea how long they've been looking but they could just appoint an auctioneer (Bonhams, RM etc.) who'd be able to give them a good estimate of value and would happily auction-off the cars to the highest bidders, with the maximum exposure and at no cost to the liquidators (who'd just take a % of the bids).Just to clarify I'm not advocating to sign up with no intention of commitment - just merely illustrating the fact that you are not immediately commiting to a 50 EUR charge at this stage. I am also in no way affiliated to this page but would have set something similar up if it had not already been in place.
Funny you should mention about getting hold of Jay Leno, I had already looked into that briefly, also considered Balotelli after recent acts of generosity
Whilst I fear that you may be right and that the cars are going to be sold - the option of merely accepting it before it has happened is something I'm not willing to do. It seems crazy / almost wreckless for the administrators to put such a short timescale on bidding as it does not give time for proper investors to put together a plan to save the museum potentially generating more cash for the receivers. The museum could be salvaged regardless of the fate of Saab as a whole for the right price.
