Car runs 195/55/r16 as standard. Fronts are dead and the rears will need doing soon.
There are far more desireable tyres/choice available if I change the size slightly.
Would a 195/50/16 or a 205/50/16 be ok?
I realise the speedo will be a bit out though.
The 205 seems like the best choice as it's only 2% different to the OEM size.
I know it's not ideal but I would only run the 2 different sizes until next pay day(4 weeks).
Thanks

195/55/16 is one of the most popular sizes, way more popular than the other 2 you list, and like for like cheaper than the other 2 sizes.
What tyres are you after?
Eagle f1s preferably. I couldn't find them in the 195/55 in any of the online retailers or even quick fit etc. What tyres are you after?
Hence the size query.
Eta the f1's in the 205 size are available from multiple retailers.
I just hope it doesn't change the drive dramaticly.

Touché. Hence the size query.
The GSD3 is an old tyre now, and at nearly £100 not cheap. You'll likely run into the same problem when you come to replace the next 2 and it's out of production.
Personally I'd try one of the excellent mid range offerings in your oe size, then you don't have to notify the insurance company etc. Avon ZV5's can be had for nearly £30 less than the GSD3 in 205/50 and are surprisingly good (I've got a set on my S2000 at the moment)

Thanks.
I thought the gsd3 had long since ceased production.
Still a cracking tyre despite being made of cheese. Ive driven on a fair few premium/sports tyres and still rate them very highly considering the age of the design.
I'll have a look at your suggestion
Cheers
It's still made in certain sizes for OE fitment purposes, 205/50 R16 is one of those sizes.I thought the gsd3 had long since ceased production.

TBH, if I was moving to 205/50 R16 I'd probably go for the Fulda Sport Control, it's pretty much the old F1 Asymmetric.
