Last week's Rolls Royce Cars Product Figures.
Discussion
I was screaming at the Radio in my car. (Over the top but hey I'm highly strung - or should be)
So they've achieved an all time 108 year high in production figures?
That ignores the fact that
1) The Factory in Crewe that used to make Rolls Royces, and Bentleys, which split from Rolls Royce back in the 70's when the group almost went bankrupt, is now owned by VW.
2) The Rolls Royce name was part of a deal with BMW when RR PLC (as in Aero Engines) bought BMW aerospace nr Berlin, and BMW got the Rights to use the RR name on a car built in the UK.
3) So this Rolls Royce have been making Cars in the UK for what about 10 Years ?
So why doesn't the BBC actually say "BMW Owned Rolls Royce Cars has achieved an all time high in it's 10 year history"
?
I'd just like them not to gloss over the facts.

Why not just celebrate the fact that a English based company, that employs hundreds of British workers, making a superb product is doing rather well in a very severe recession.

I'm not saying we shouldn't celebrate, but let's not pretend they have a 108 year history.
I work for the other arm of Rolls-Royce, (defence) aerospace, and it's been a bit of a conversation point this week. We're not related any more than you and another person sharing your surname are, but it's nice to see the brand in good light. Rolls tend not to get mentioned too much in the news unless things are good - most papers (particularly the Daily Mail) reported great stories about the A380 and 787 Dreamliner, completely glossing over the fact that the engines for those specific test planes (and indeed, a large share of the market), were made in England by skilled, grumpy, engineers.
...I'm not entirely sure how I managed to turn a R-R commendation into a gripe about the media.
