I would make the recommended "2 second rule" a law, punishable by a stern kick to the balls.

I hate people who follow too close, and they are responsible for 99.7% of all road traffic accidents*

* - not a fact.

When on motorways, USE THE LANES AS THEY WERE INTENDED. Cruising in the outside lane when one of the other lanes is clear should be punishable by public exectution [/clarkson]

To know the highway code to a reasonable level.

How this would be enforced I don't know, but punishmnet would be removal of licence until retested.

No one would be able to plead ignorance for all the annoying st they do, like middle lane hogging, not indicating, following too close etc which would make their actions deliberate and negligant/dangerous.

Would make enforcing all the other road laws and practices a lot easier smile

box junctions are fitted with a trap door, anyone who remains stationary in one for more than three seconds activates the trap door. no idea where it goes, dont really care....

Overtake on the inside.

Left turn at traffic lights, if suitable.

That would be a bit unfair, considering that it's perfectly legal (and reasonable) to sit in a box junction if you're waiting to turn right across a stream of traffic if the exit road is clear on the other side.

For me to have immediate power to ban people from the roads.

So often I see cretinous driving, so this way I can just ban them, job done.

Lorries to be forced to stay in lane 1 (or lanes 1 and 2 if > 3 lanes) on motorways.

This.

Although it would take away the fun of "buzzing" middle lane morons in the Chimaera biggrin

Flashing Amber traffic lights at night. So often I drive back from work at 4am or so and have to stop and sit at traffic lights where theres bugger all else in the next 3 miles of road.

i think and age and weight limit is needed for this to work, of the woman and not the car.

All PH forumites to be licensed to use bonnet mounted rocket launchers. Would quickly solve a lot of problems? :-p

Ahem. More seriously.

Motorway limit up to 80.
Mandatory retests at 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80 etc.
Linking license grade to performance of car, in a way similar to motorcycles (No inexperienced drivers in performance vehicles)
Incentivising advanced driver training by linking to reduced insurance premiums.
Abolish road tax, fold into fuel costs.
Change insurance system from driver to car basis.
