Odd post, but the Lexus has just had an MOT and I noted that I have covered 13,000 miles in a year. I'm pretty amazed really as I didn't think I used it that much, and the odo doesn't lie, but it just goes to show how it all adds up without you realising....wonder how much it has cost me in fuel?

The TVR has covered just under 5000 in the same period, and I've also spent a lot of time in various test cars too, so I've easily exceeded 20k in 2011. For a bloke who thought he didn't leave London much, I'm amazed. Seems I get out more than I realise, and my occasional business meetings add more than I thought.

Just goes to show that if you love driving you will continue to do so, regardless of fuel prices.

Oh, and I realise that 20k is nothing compared to many of you! Just surprised me......

I bought my Integra in Feb 2005, and I've done a mere 30000 miles in that time, 90% of that is hooning around. Conversely, I got a brand new van in Mar 2009 and that's coming up to 100000k. I think you'd be surprised just how much travelling you can actually do around London, and as you say, with still the ability to do it in such a short time.

I am currently deliberating whether to get a second car - a fun car for weekends and sunny evenings. A limited mileage policy seems to take some of the sting out of insurance costs but whenever I think about what 5000 miles actually means, it really doesn't add up to much!

A weekend hoon around some favourite North Wales roads can easily eat up a couple of hundred miles. A trip to the continent to Spa, or the Nurburgring and thats easily 1000 miles, or 1/5 of the policy gone!

I increased the policy on the TVR from 5,000 to 8,000 for 2011 and I still ended up doing just under 5k. That included driving to the LM24, various PH events, regular drives out with the Mrs and seeing my parents in Yorkshire....oh and the Welsh weekender driving tour.

5,000 miles isn't as restrictive as you might think.

Am finding the same thing myself this year actually.

I recently moved house so that I only live 2.5 miles from work. I'm running two cars - a daily and a weekend car.. the daily I only bought in about August and have already stuck 4000 miles on, and the weekend car is on a limited mileage policy (also agreed around August) and I've already stuck 2000 miles on that. So I'm on track to cover over 13,000 miles at least in a year yet I live so close to work?! How the hell is that possible?!

Checked my total mileage odometer last night, thought it'd be around 116,000 or so.. Just ticked past 119,000 miles.

The TVR might've clicked over 5k if you hadn't crashed it hehe

Not driving to work I find it difficult to exceed 6-7k a year now. As dull as commuting can be I do miss driving daily.

!!!!!

Last year my norm was ~80miles a week..., and I fear this year may be even less. Not exactly burning up the miles at Uni frown

We all got our vans at the same time. We fit energy controls to supermarkets, so its not difficult to see where the mileage comes from!

Oddly mine seems to be creeping very slowly.

Normally seem to see a dramatic rise whereas at the moment its taken me about two or three weeks to cover 2k miles or at least it seems that way. Feels odd. Everything feels odd.

fk this taking time off thing it really screws with my head.

Anyway on 363k miles now i think as of today. If i am lucky will make 400k by the end of the year unless i change jobs or the car gets too expensive to repair.
