In car camera systems for general road use

Keep seeing YouTube footage posted that people take from inside their cars out on the road.

I cover 15k miles a year in the Fiesta, and at some time being involved in, or a witness to a collision will be inevitable. These camera gadgets seem very good for helping to record events, which might in the long run save a lot of hassle.

So, does anyone have one? Any recommendations?

I've been looking at these for a track day camera but they should suffice for everyday use as well.
