A friend, yes it is for a friend smile, has a budget of between £35k to £40k to buy a car.

Requirements - German, auto (PDK/DCT/SMG etc) must not be dull like a Passat, heated adjustable seats. Car must look interesting without being a " a look at me car".

Petrol, NA. Good Sat/Nav. Ideally a 2+2 but 2 seater also considered.

Depreciation - up to £5k per annum is palatable, so probably a year old car. Reliable of course wink

Currently drives an Audi S4. Aged 45, 5k miles per annum.

Your suggestions most welcome, hope to close off this thread by the week-end.

Mercedes CLS? Yes, it's not a 2+2 and it has four doors, but the rest seems to fit the bill...i think. If that's too boring then you can't go wrong with a 911.

Prejudice, but take your point. A Jaguar is a damn good option.

Just thought of an E46 M3 CSL - not 1 year old, but will hold its value... erm, might not be comfortable either - but it's where my money would go!

Can't find any in the classifieds, but they cost 35-45K Euro on the continent, so should be near that money here.

Oh okay, I'd seen a few on AutoTrader a while ago and I'm sure they were upwards of £60k.

On 5k per annum on a £40k car?

That's a tough criteria to meet even for a year old car.

+ lots

Such a good everyday car and the less exotic ones are really pretty discrete.

740d. Comfortable, pulls like a train, lots of toys, does 40mpg+. What else would you need? I'm having one when my 730d goes the journey.

ETA just saw you said 2+2. Meh.
