Can a clutch.................... ?

Can the contact pads of a clutch be re-faced in the same way a flywheel can ?

Got myself into a bit of a vicious circle sometime ago had a new clutch fitted and it was a bit of a rush job so the flywheel wasn't touched.......... end result was a clutch that is not great to use as it judders on take up and makes some weird noises

Later on i had the opportunity to re-face the flywheel but with the existing clutch still,this has improved the situation quite a bit but it's still not as good as it could be, so i suspect the only way to get an ideal result is to start with two perfect surfaces but i'm reluctant to fork out for another 6 paddle AP clutch so was wondering if it's possible to reface the clutch pads ?

Anybody have any experience of this ?

If the flywheel is now true, I would have thought the clutch-plate would bed back in again after a while? I don't think you can skim a clutch-plate, they aren't thick enough or rigid enough.

Not certain, though.

Bit late now but generally it is a false economy to re-use a friction plate. If the flywheel was sufficiently scored to require skimming and I had gone to the cost of machining and all the labour, I certainly wouldn't be skimping on a new friction plate and release bearing/concentric slave cylinder.

That was what i was pretty much hoping when i eventually had the flywheel done but kept the newish clutch.......... and it worked to an extent but it's still not as good as it should be

I'm wondering also if a factor may be how i had the flywheel done as apparently it was re-faced with a lathe but i'm told a much better way is to have it surface ground with a stone wheel......... which is what i'll be looking to do this time
