Bought a motorcycle,v5 went missing in post from previous owner,i filled out the appropriate form (v62) at the post office and sent it to the DVLA.Today i received a letter from DVLA,a letter with 'V62AL' at the bottom explaining the v62 i filled in will be processed on 26/01/2012.Can i tax my motorcycle on the strength of this letter since i have the mot and insurance?Cheers!
P.S I didn't tax vehicle when i had green slip as it was Christmas, all post offices closed/weather etc i just wanted v62 sent away to get the ball rolling.

I reckon so. I guess you would have to go to the Post Office and that they only use the V5 to identify the car and verify the address details. On the basis that you can interchange the V5 with the tax renewal form I guess you can interchange with the V63AL form as well. If you get a git at the Post Office counter he/she might refuse on the ground that they've not seen that form before and won't want to go to the trouble of checking it out so will refuse. But I reckon you'd be alright.

I taxed my car at the local DVLA office with the MOT, insurance and filled out the V62 form there.
Don't know if that's any use to you.
