Interesting article and should certainly get the PH juices flowing!

I'd warrant that roads are only as dangerous as the users, but if I had a gun to my head I'd say the country roads are more "dangerous" because the speeds are generally higher.

sloppy work on the thread title, sorry grammar police!

I'd agree in so far as saying country roads are more 'dangerous', but only due to higher speed, twists and turns, and over confidence leading to meeting a tree or equivalent.

Certainly not the case for the Merc SLK230 driven by a fat naffer that I was following on the B1225 in lincs today, mupput drove at 45mph then 35 rounds bends, which meant he was saves but was just winding me up so once past it took a while before I calmed down.

Cities are full of moronic drivers that pull out on you or tailgate you and run redlights.

Country roads are more challenging (sharp corners, restricted vision due to vegetation and dips in the road, often poorer state of repair etc) and have way less 'safety landscaping' than urban roads. Plus there's a wider range of traffic speeds from people blatting along at 70-80mph down to tractors crawling at tens of mph or horseriders. Also way less by way of lighting.

Of course they are more dangerous, you don't need a report to tell you that.
