Most miles you've ever got from a single tank of fuel

I was wondering what the most miles you guys have gotten from a tank would be. The maximum range achieved if you will. To get a good result you obviously need a big tank, but also a relatively frugal car. So the Aygo may struggle with it's small tank, but Disco's (despite a huge tank) will struggle with their MPG. So what's the best trade off?

My best ever is 715 miles from a 730d, but I bet that can be beaten!

(PS - Cruise ships / boats don't count, I'm talking about cars here!)

740 from a 106 1.5d. The first 450 miles were at 60 on the m'way. Also, I wouldn't trust the odometer

Lagos Portugal to just south of Vallodolid Spain averaging around 150kph so just over 500 miles in a MKIV Golf TDI 150 (remapped)

1034 from a Peugeot 406 HDi. I don't drive very fast.

Just over 600 from my Mondeo ST. Not that great TBH.

But, in normal day-to-day driving, I had my XJR (x350) averaging 23mpg over 5000 miles which had included 1500 towing, and 25.0mpg over 3,000 miles. I think that was pretty good.

About 300 miles per tank from the various hatchbacks I own. They probably could do a bit more but I don't like driving like a hippy.

The Fiesta gives around 420 to 450 miles per tank - eight gallons.

Can only remember the numbers in metric - som boffin with more time might do a conversion of them.

1018 km on 54 liters of Diesel - average of 18,4 km/l

Better add in too the 676 miles from BMW HQ in Bracknell to John O'Groats in a 2011 MINI Cooper D (40 litre tank).

Full spec, 17" wheels, no modifications, no special fuel - and me at the wheel.

14 hours driving, and over 75mpg.

Managed out 370 miles on a single tank from mine - VW Golf mk2 GTI 8 valve! 55 ltr tank.

400 miles in a Disco 1 TDi

That works out at about 28mpg which isn't bad for a 2+ tons and streamlined like a brick

425 miles out of the Alfa's tank = 35mpg (in North Wales, stuck behind caravans and becoming increasingly wary that the nearest garage was bloody miles away).

395 miles out of the B's tank = 36 mpg, cruising around French single carriageways around Sancerre at a pretty steady 60 odd.

I used to have a Mk1 MR2 that had a tiny tank and therefore had a range of about 260 miles despite returning mid 30s mpg. I think Elises are the same, although my mate with an S1 Elise reckons you need to get out at every fuel light because the seat's so uncomfortable.

Best is probably about 380 miles from my VXR. Worst is less than 150 from the Civic Type R I had before it, that was done on the 1st weekend I had it

North Kent to Fort William in Scotland, around 520-530 miles. Fabia VRS at a steady cruise and mostly a clear run.

890 out of my old Saab 93 2.2d that was pretty regular too when I was doing a 140 mile each way per day commute in it.
