A5 Coupe or new 3 series?
Discussion
I have to choose a new company car just as Audi have facelifted the A5 and BMW have launched the new 3 series. I will be test driving both, but which do I go for? I will be opting for the 2.0 diesel whichever marque I go for. I am genuinely undecided as both have appeal; the A5 Coupe is to my eyes stunning and just very desirable; the new 3 series is handsome and a bit sportier than the outgoing model but is - according to all reviews I've read, a stunning drive as well. My heart says A5 but my head says 3 series. What would you do?

Neither !!
But i guess you have no other choice??
I do have a choice, these are just my preferences, but all suggestions welcome - I'll be doing 25k a year so want something, comfortable, an element of sportiness and hopefully not inclined to break down. Currently in an Insignia SRi which is surprisingly good actually. But i guess you have no other choice??

BMW, because its fresher and more modern. You can also have a nice petrol engine and still not pay huge company car tax, you'll be stuck with a nasty, horrible diesel in the Audi I'd imagine.

I really like those new 3 series, have you a specific model in mind? Number 5 said:

I went to a preview at a dealership last night, it really does look good in the flesh a nice step forward in the design. I "want" the M Sport but it's not available yet so probably the Sport with the sport auto and some nice alloys.....not that I've decided yet ;o))) At the moment it's all BMW based on the responses though!TJPM said:

Why the 2 litre diesel? The 245bhp 328i is only 149g/km and 0-60 in 5.9 seconds.
Go on, get a proper one.
I'll have to see what that would cost, but doing 25k a year so need a mix of performance and economy (Yawn I know ;o) ) From what I've heard the 320d has excellent torque and acceleration?Go on, get a proper one.

It's certainly not bad - but the 328i is obviously going to be a faster, smoother and more refined (Though it is 4 cylinder) car and without the emissions penalty you'd usually associated with a car offernig that level of performance.Be different, in 6 months time every 3 series you see will say '320d' on the back. Yours doesnt have to..

That's a proper PistonHeads response ;o) Maybe I shouldn't sell the Chimaera and that can justify the 320d?Be different, in 6 months time every 3 series you see will say '320d' on the back. Yours doesnt have to..
