Hi, this is my 1st post.
So, here goes....

I wonder if anyone can help me.

I recently went to my VW Dealer looking to buy a used 1yr old
VW R32, and almost secured a deal.

However, i asked if i use the car, just for a weekend- see what it
was like to live with and to my shock, the Dealer blanked me...
needless to say i walked away.

Does anyone know of some1 or Company that will do short term hire
on a VW R32??. Obv i will pay the going rate for Hire/Rental, and ensure
relative Insurance is provided, and it will only be used locally.

Kind Regards
Rasenap.

1 year old? the mkv stopped production in 2008 do you mean an R?

it seams odd you would need a car for the weekend, most people know if they like a car over an extended test drive, i just need 1 straight and 1 corner tongue out

The one i was looking at, was registered in 08
but had a Private Plate on it, so the plate
looked like an 11.

Still, was a lovely car. But, given the "attitude"
of the Dealer, i was less than happy to part with my cash.

But, if anyone knows of 1, please do reply -asap...

Cheers
Rasenap.

With the R32 being such a target for thieves I can see why they don't want let one go out unsupervised

Seriously, you're dreaming, if you can get a weekend test drive on an R32 I'll eat my hat, never gonna happen, too many test pilot wannabees.

When I was buying my 5 series they dropped off a demo at home for 2 days and then came and collected, I didn't ask they offered, but I was known to the dealership having bought 4 cars off them and that's what demos are for.

I would say you'll struggle to get a weekend in a secondhand car.

i should say i just sold mine after 5 years and 50k miles to me (with DSG) its a superb all round car, cheap to maintain (except the fuel and tax disc on 07+ cars), can get all the family in, a giant weekend shop, even ran my mothers old washing machine down the dump in it, no problems in the heavy snow on summer tyres.

not the fastest thing in a straight line but it handles bad roads and wet roads in its stride

a great real world car GT car and a stonking sound track

Hire a normal Golf, see if you can live with that for a weekend.

Then go to the dealer and ask for a normal length test drive of an R32. That way, I can't see what else you think you might learn over a few days that you couldn't tell in an hour.

People quite often ask on here about renting R32s/S3 etc. to attend weddings so the dealer may have had bad experiences before.

Why can't you decide if you like the car just by test driving it? You're asking to take a flagship used car over an entire weekend which is a dealerships busiest time! Do you really think they're going to agree to it? Get real, take a decent test drive on every type of road and if it isn't a yes by the end of the drive then it isn't the car for you.

Had one for a year.

8 months in E14 with secure parking - no problems.

Moved to Bristol with street parking, 2 attempts at wheel nicking within a week of moving. £3k of damage (they failed but vandalised it), had to sell it.

They are a major target partly because almost everything will fit onto a bog standard Golf (well it did on the mk4 anyway).

You asked "could I test the car for a weekend"

The dealer heard "along with all the other dreamers can I go thrash your R32 with no plan whatsoever to actually purchase the thing, then come back and tell you I'll think about it and walk away?"

Never going to happen!
