RE: Steeda launches Ford tuning operation in UK
Monday 23rd January 2012

Ford's current plans to create a more global policy for its cars - and its performance cars in particular - has pricked up the ears of Steeda Autosports, creators of one of the most extensive ranges of Ford tuning parts in the world.
Steeda launches Ford tuning operation in UK
The biggest Ford tuner you've never heard of is coming to Blighty

The result? Steeda Autosports is heading to the UK for the first time, with a range of parts for the Fiesta and Focus. If you've never heard of Steeda, their production-based vehicles have won more championships, set more track records, and won more races than their competitors - Shelby, Saleen, and Roush - combined (this is what they tell us at least).
Unfortunately, Steeda won't be bringing in the $80,000-plus (£51,400) 'Streetfighter' Mustang and, with its 690hp and 640lb ft, that most definitely seems a shame, but it's interesting to see a significant US-based Ford tuner with its eye firmly on the UK.
Initially, the stuff available in the UK will be a selection of suspension parts, a Steeda shortshifter, and a cold air intake kit. Parts for the new Focus should follow. As new models of the Ford Global Platforms arrive, Steeda promises it will continue to expand its UK operation.
Discussion
Thing is, if Ford are serious about building a 'global' range, basing the next Mondeo on a US Fusion saloon etc, then why can't we have a RHD Mustang?
Or if that doesn't make sense, what about importing the Aussie Falcon? GM can justify bringing the VXR8 over, so why not Ford? Ford has been looking very dull for years IMO. The only car of their current range I'm even slightly bothered about is the Fiesta - which is saying something.

You'll be getting a RHD mustang all too soon in all of its terrible 4pot turbo glory!Or if that doesn't make sense, what about importing the Aussie Falcon? I have some Steeda stuff on my Mk1 Focus (billet/urethane engine mounts, 8mm spark plug wires, and "cold" air intake). I've been pretty pleased with them so far. I love the noise the intake makes and the urethane mounts make an appreciable improvement in acceleration (less torque lost due to twisting the factory mounts). The downside to the mounts is that everything shakes pretty violently at idle and stuff is bound to come loose. My mom can't stand it, but I'm a PHer after all, and it doesn't bother me one bit.

Are these lot related to that story from a few years back where you could essentially, buy all the parts off the shelf to fit a small block v8 into a focus & make it rwd??
Or did I dream this??????
Ahhhh amazing car that! Not Steeda however but Ford Racing (performance parts), FRPP for short, as far as I can recall FRPP is sort of like the Ford Racing parts catalouge so a bonafied Ford project. IIRC it was around $10'000 for the conversion to a donor car which seemed to include bodykit, interior, suspension and brakes in addition to the powerplant, gearbox, driveshaft, Mustang rear axle and 5.0 Mustang engine. Or did I dream this??????
There used to be several articles including one that linked to a PDF of the pricing breakdown of the conversion but the only pages I can find right now is this:
http://www.streetracersonline.com/articles/rs8/
or
http://www.supercars.net/cars/2523.html
The second article which claims it is $14'000 for just the drivetrain conversion, 5.0 'Cammer' crate engine and wiring loom
with gearbox to match is slightly more in depth.

Makes everything else look a bit limp wristed in comparison.
