Evenin'

For reasons that are now boring me rigid by now, I'm to lose my Motability car. So I'm having to look at choices...

  • Buy an old shed
  • Buy a half-decent used car
  • Lease a car privately
  • Lease one against my business (holiday flat)
Now, here's where it gets tricky. There's a slight chance of regaining my Motability car, or I may be able to keep it anyway (as I said beyond my control). The snag is that if I do buy, I'm up against depreciation if I have to get rid. If I lease, I'd be tied into a contract - the minimum I can get is 2 years. The snag is, money is very, very tight (like that's a surprise).

So, any thoughts, please?

Buy a shed and have little or no depreciation left to worry about.

Yes. Just choose something reliable.

I'm a firm believer in an 8V cavalier. Reliable and easy to maintain, but they are few and far between, so I'd suggest an 8V mk3 astra for about £600. Service it, and it will have paid for itself in about 4 months (compared to a loan, hp, or depreciation)

Saab 9000. Less than a grand, comfortable, quick, anonymous, and reliable.
