Today I got told to f*** off for offering to push

Car broken down in lane 2 of 3, long queues, so in the interests of everyone else stuck in the queue, I pulled into a layby, put on the hi-vi and went back to help him push it out of the way.

Sensible man in lane 1 sussed what I was doing and stopped to let me across, driver of broken down car said "fk off, I've called the police."

I told him he was a selfish git as he was causing a long queue and left him to sit, hopefully embarassed in the middle of the road, hopefully for a long time before plod didn't have something more worthwhile to do.

I would accept 'Thanks, but plod are on their way' or 'The brakes are stuck on, it won't push' but it's beyond me why he felt that was a suitable reaction top an offer of help.

As it was a fairly new Golf it would seem unlikely to be a mechanical fault, so possibly run of fuel, if so hopefully plod could find some reason (driving while being a tt ) to persecute him. (no that's not a typo!).

Before I get a lecture from the H&S nazis, it was at a point where traffic is forced to slow anyway as lane 3 disappears (Bolney/Handcross A23 north) so it wouldnt' have been a rpobelm to shove him out of the way.

There could have been anything up with him and his motor in that case....

May have even put the wrong fuel in the car which I could only assume as being one of the most embarassing things a motorist could do! lol

Not meaning to go off topic here but I was walking to Osterley Tube Station last Friday and say a young lady in a Celica had broken down at a set of lights on the A4 during rush hour traffic. She had caused a huge tailback so I offered to push her off the A4 and into the side road but she said "No it's okay, I've run out of petrol". I just looked at her and said "Erm, okay, but I'm going to push you out of the road as you've caused a monumental traffic jam!".

So I pushed her around the corner and a good 50m or so too in order to make sure she didn't get rear-ended by anyone coming around the corner but didn't get even get so much as a thank you for it.

Meh! Atleast I'm a good person!

Or perhaps he was a tt. People like that don't deserve help. Ungrateful wker.

Out of curiosity, what would've happened if he and the other bloke had pushed anyways? (assuming numpty didn't put the handbrake/brakes on)

This. I think it's the same thing that makes people swear blind they're in the right, despite driving through a red light, overtaking towards your oncoming vehicle or pulling straight out in front of you on a roundabout.

my R32 blew an ecu on lane 3 at 70 in rush hour, it was 2 months old lol

Can't believe there are people like this Society is in a bad, bad way.

If a member of the public helped me out of any unfortunate situation with my car or otherwise I would show nothing but the utmost graciousness. When I was younger and had only just started driving my car broke down just outside a petrol station, it was only a couple of miles down the road and I'd gone to get fuel (no I hadn't run out, before you say anything ) and it was the one occasion where I hadn't bothered to take my phone with me. Typical. I sheepishly asked a guy filling his car up if I could borrow his phone to make a 20 second phone call (to my dad) and he obliged. He didn't have to. The world needs more nice people.

I stopped and offered to be a witness for a bloke who got reversed into after a woman had blocked a junction and then decided to reverse out to let a turning car through. He told me to F-Off too!
