Buy an A6 avant quattro unless the adjustable ride height is an essential i.e. you live down a farm track e.t.c). It does everything the allroad does for thousands cheaper.

I was going to buy an Audi Allroad not so long ago,My advice : JUST DON'T !

Been told by numerous people to allow a grand per axle for invevitable suspension repairs/replacement.
Drives like a boat..... if you want a 4wd estate go for a 'less' borkable A6 Quattro..

I can understand your want for an allroad, they're awesome.... but unfortunately not worht the risk.

I've played it "safe" and bought a nice sensible, cheap to run Audi S3 ........ oo erm I don't mean cheap to run hehe

Since I don't have the energy to join in the usual PH exuberant welcoming of a newbie I'll actually attempt answer your post.

I've never owned an Allroad but they are supposed to be fairly competant load-luggers. Depending on which engine is in though I've heard some horror stories of some substantial bills for relatively mundane work so that might be worth considering. You haven't given many requirements other than (a) NOT being an Vectra and (b) carrying 3 children plus gubbins so it's hard to suggest alternatives however.

I was thinking more along the lines of some Brie one those little crackers that aren't exactly crackers, but more like digestive biscuits.

Your suggestion is a definite possibility now though
