I'm guessing you'd get used to either system pretty quickly once you used it...

Pro's of static ones are it's obvious which one does what, but at the cost of making it harder to change gear whilst cornering as your hands might not be near the paddles.

Pro's of ones that are attached to the wheel is that it should stay near your hands when cornering, but they might end up on the 'wrong' side when cornering sharply!

I have both set ups - the DB9 has the paddles fixed behind the wheel, and the Polo has them on the wheel.

I prefer the Polo's set up, but it's not really a hinderance when using them in the DB9. The paddles when fixed are usually quite a bit longer so you can still use them with a bit of steering lock on, whereas the paddles on my Polo are more like buttons, maybe an inch long.

Chances are you'll have selected your gear before the corner, how many times a day do you change gear when you're on full lock anyway?

Just pick whichever feels better when you drive it,

Depends on your normal steering action.

If you use the pull push method then having them move with the wheel might mean that at times you will have both hands on either the top or bottom of the wheel whilst the paddle you want is at the other end. Not hugely useful!

Personally I would prefer them fixed.

If they are fixed, less likely to go wrong?
Something that turns with the wheel must be more complicated - slip rings can be intermittent and wires can fatigue - IMO

I think I'd also go for fixed - at least you know where the paddles are when you need them!

I prefer fixed myself every time I drive a car with paddles I always find myself going going for the paddles in there original position.
