Can't believe what I am seeing this morning. Quoted £4437 by Aviva, and £3990 by Flux! What the hell? I am 29, living in Leeds, history of performance cars, 5yrs NCB, license 6 years (will be 7 years in march. Also turn 30 in March). I do have 6 points, as a result of an SP30 in 08 and an SP50 in 09, which obviously doesn't help, but still, £4k?!?!

Can't get my head around it. I'm hoping A-Plan might be able to do a bit better. Who else can I try? It's an 02 Impreza STi Type UK Prodrive.

try running the quote without the points & at 30 years and see what the difference is...? whats your mileage allowance, bus & pleasure... excess etc...

Best for me on a similar car was Bell. I am older though but no performance car experience.

Shocker: Fast car that is usually driven fast and has high crash records not cheap to insure for speeding motorist!

Will have to give it a try as being 30 for sure. Just very frustrating. Was all set to try and find a car this weekend. Just seems excessively bizarre. I put the mileage as upto 12k as it'll be my daily driver. Excess I am happy with anything upto £500.

Bloody hell! I thought kids got stung hard with insurance!

I can get a 528i fully comp for £590 at 22 if that makes you feel any better :P.

I'm with Admiral for mine (WRX PPP) and they were by far the cheapest, at 29 I paid about £900 with them on multicar for both the scooby and my 306 daily. I'm 30 now and it's come down to about 800-ish.

Being in Leeds probably doesn't help as I would imagine it's a fairly high risk area for a car like that. Not alot you can do about that though frown

That is a bit steep.I was running an evo 5 when i was that age(7 yrs ago) and was paying about £800.Had three points then for an sp30 aswell.

I think i was with A-plan then.CCI might also be worth a try.

Also tell them the car is left on the driveway!!

Funny thing is, I have been insured this year with Flux. I started out with a 300bhp MR2 Turbo, and a couple of months back switched to an old 93 WRX Wagon that I bought as a winter hack.

I've just been quoted £2363 with Privilege, as a result of getting a little bit Confused. I will try them again with my OH added who is 35 and been driving since 17....

Finding decent insurance for Imprezas has always been a challenge.. when I first had one at 21 I was typically getting quotes of 2.5 to 4k, even had one for £8,400 from the AA. The only way I had any success was to ring around pretty much everyone, paid £1200 in the end with Direct Line (had to fit a tracker though) so don't be put off just because you've recieved some bad ones.

I am with flux; watch out when you on the phone as most insurance companies as will ask do you drive to more than one place of work, as it makes a huge defiance in the quote if you say yes...

to be fair, if i owned or was in charge of a car insurance company i would want nothing to do with these motors, cos' everyone knows they get thrashed, and *normally*, at *some point* do get crashed!
