The bane of civilisation returned today....grubby looking females washing windscreens at Hanger Lane. And that is grubby in the not good way, not the good dirty way!! Stopped at the lights and despite protestations was treated to having my windscreen doused in dirty water and squeegied off(is that a word?)....

Used to happen everywhere in London a few years ago but thankfully stopped, first time I've seen this in a wee while. Hate it when it happens as they get seriously pissed if you don't stump up some cash. Does it still count if you run over illegal immigrants? If they aren't registered then they don't exist right?? Time for some bull bars for the Alfa then??

I remember trying to time the approach to the lights to avoid them.
It's against the law AFAIK, hence why they all dissapeared a while back?

Had to shout at them to get them off the car the last time we were in East London, and they then spat on the windscreen before fking off. My wife had to stop me from accidentally slipping off the clutch.

Cant you bull bar the car up and give it a matt black repaint that way you could run them down Mad Max style, We dont get that in Sussex but we do get the "Happy Christmas BIG ISSUE" every where you go even in the middle of Summer lol.

As for not being registered over here, I would have thought the first words they learn once they reach Calais is Social Security and Housing Benefit.

Haven't seen any locally for quite a while (must be a good few years now).
However, did spot an older chap doing it down south last summer biggrin

Luckily I've never seen any of these locally. I wouldn't be pleased if I did. Them becoming pissed off when you don't pay is outrageous, as if their sloping up to your car and lazily washing your windscreen (despite your protests not to) could constitute a contract. If I wanted cold, dirty water slathered over my car I'd go to a car wash, thanks.

Is there any advantage to having your windscreen washed by these scabs over just pressing the button on your indicator stalk?

No, but there are many disadvantages. Scratches on the screen, etc etc.

I used to find a quick press of the wash wipe was enough to send them on their way....

Tesco had a problem with the cleaners in the car park for something similar. They would often go to women on their own, ask if they wanted to clean the car, even if they said no they would do it, and then get aggressive with them.

Yup, quick press of the stalk for a second or two, wipers on full speed- I'd love to see them try.
