you sold car for how much?

he they made accusation about it being bent so you went to give him money back and he suggested a drive (1st mistake don't get in and should have told him to F**k off straight away when he complained about car)....

then they did what for 1k?

you ramble and ramble without saying any actual points to it.

First of all, why did you offer to refund it? If it was as described, whats the problem?

Sounds like a bad situation to be in, but I can't see gumtree to be the one to blame.

If he wanted a refund, why didn't you get him to meet to your terms and somewhere 'safe'?

your first mistake was going to meet him to give him his money back, if you knew that the milage was correct then why give him a refund?
unless your a dealer of course!
itsd not gumtress fault, but your own for being too nice or too stupid.
however you should contact the police again and make sure they understand that the person was be aggresive and you feared for you life.
next time you sell a car and the buyer rings up complaining tell him its no longer your problem and end it there.

Nothing to do with Gumtree, everything to do with people.

Sounds like you've earned a hard lesson here, but you'll never make the same mistake twice, I hope...

I think you're too dumb to drive a car, best stay in

On reflection, maybe that was a bit harsh, you are young. When you sell something it is a done deal, over, finished and unless you have deliberately deceived them they have no comeback.....not even then actually. Buyer beware, caveat emptor and all that.
Never ever put yourself in an exposed position like that, the world is full of nutters

Finally, it's not Gumtrees fault

I don't understand this one, the guy bought your car and drove away yet he then threatened you and gave you another £1k and told you to get lost.

Did somewhere along the line you give him the money back? No idea how much you sold it for as you advertised it for £1 on Gumtree.

If this guy has ripped you off and threatened you then you need to go to the police ASAP and describe exactly what has happened. If this guy has manhandled you then he can be charged with assault I believe.

So much confusion :
you sold a car ..
he wanted his money back
you gave him his money back or not? its not clear
then he bought it again for 1k off you later that same evening presumably out of the money you gave him?
other than the police not wanting to know (very strange if the story is true) Id say walk away pleased you can still walk and don't use gumtree again!

Oh and second lesson is don't do adverts like that... they are annoying and you will piss people off.

its a merc, its not a honda, a scoby, etc... so stop trying to bypass the search engine in the hope that someone might be interested in yours when looking for a cvic type-r.

I don't sell cars, I'm not a trader.

I gave him his money back, he then after everything gave me £1k and told me to fk off!

I went to the police, explained everything (notts police), they said its a civil claims court matter but I don't see the point how?

Sorry to the people who don't seem to understand my english

What a nightmare situation, which I've no doubt was terrifying, I certainly wouldn't want to be in that position.

However, I've got absolutely no doubt there's more to this story, your actions were truly bizarre - a buyer accuses you of selling a clocked car and you immediately get on a train to give them a full refund and then go for a drive with them. If they guy wanted to steal the car from you for £1,000 he could have done that when he collected it off you. Sounds like you've tried to rip-off the wrong type of person and it's come back to bite you.

You say its a "p/x vehicle", but you put "Seller type: Private" in the advert.

And what is a "2001 MERCEDES C230K KOMPRESSOR EVOLUTION SUPERCHARGED *AMG* CIVIC TYPE R S3 TT GTI BMW GOLF SUBARU"? What sort of buyer do you expect to attract with a stupid advert like that?

I don't get it either. A 20 year old student who took a C230K as PX (on what? are you a private trader?), advertises it on a website he's been using since 2010 (for other cars?) at £1, doesn't advertise the car with a disclaimer about the mileage then offers to buy it back. Hmmmmm
Then you go to the buyer to give the money back/cancel the deal. Why not just offer him a discount over the phone on the original price or a few quid for his travelling and inconvenience to bring the car back to you?
