I was just idly web window shopping and have just seen the Jeep Wrangler 4 door that I took for a test drive last Spring, still on the same dealer's forecourt for over a grand more than it's price last year.

Is he flogging a dead horse as it seems strange to put the price up when there is obviously little or, in this case, no interest.

Normal practice? as I have noticed a few cars that have not sold going up in price, and I'm not talking Enzos, Carrera GTs etc.

Depends on the dealer size and if its a big group or PLC that owns it. I'm guessing this is a family owned or small indy dealer. Probably thinking that he can charge a premium as its 'Winter' and might snow wink

There's a BMW Z4 on my local Indy dealers forecourt that's been there over 4 years now! Although the price does keep coming down, he can't seem to shift it...

Im guessing that after 4 years that will now only be worth around half what it was originally up for!

On the A61 just outside of Harrogate going towards Ripon, there is a small garage. I looked at an Audi A6 back in 2001. It was bright red and a very basic spec, low mileage but quite expensive for what it was. I had a look but the was ignored on the forecourt. That was in summer 2001. It is still there a couple of weeks ago.

The dealer must have washed the car over 100 times during that period and the price has always been expensive, I think it is now down to 3k, was 7k originally. It has been outside for all that time.

I also wonder what all that time idle will have done to the mechanics / tyres, etc.

there is a smart-ish second hand car showroom near me. \Every so often a big transporter arrives and collects some/drops some more off. I presume they have a deal with another showroom to rotate stock every now and then to make it look like they have different stock in..

Must be a sight to see a Jeep dealer. I can't remember the last time I saw one.

Wouldn't touch another Z4 unless it was real bargain and or unique spec/mileage/condition.

I had one about 2 years ago. Lovely car 3.0si Great colour spec and condition, really nothing wrong with it at all. I had it for about 6 months, eventually traded it on to another dealer for a £2k loss.
Checked on his website 6 months later and it was still there at about the money he paid for it.

Conversely I had a Jeep Wrangler over the Christmas holidays. I could have sold that 10 times over.

All the more reason for him to be happy to let it go for £10k not the £16k odd he is asking, 'cept I don't like the chrome front grill and mirrors.

Nearly 11 years? Seriously, that's not a car dealer, that's Mr Trebus.

My old Cadillac BLS is on Another Trader and has been for 6 months. No one's interested.

I went around without letting on I was one of the previous owners, out of curiosity. It looks like it's had a hard life since it's left me- considering I looked after it well, that's a shame. I miss it but I definitely don't want it back now.

(I haven't identified which one it is, since I think that counts as naming and shaming...)

An A6 in solid red with wheeltrims, cloth, no air, 4-pot petrol, and a radio cassette? No wonder it's not sold!

Yup, That's the one.
11 years now and counting. I just wanted an A6 at the time, bought an A6 2.6SE in blue instead for £5500 and ran it for 4 years and 90k trouble free miles. It was easily the best car I had ever owned at that stage.
