I have driven many cars in my lifetime, and as technology advances rapidly, so, it seems, does the number of steering wheel-mounted buttons. So far in my experience the car with the most on its wheel has been the Citroen C4, with a staggering 17 buttons (including the horn).

Do fellow PHers know of any car that can beat this?!

And is there really a need for so many?

Probably not a need for that many, but similarly there will be many on there you don't need to use either.

They drive me up the wall!

Im happy with a horn. But I don't need buttons to work the radio! Its only about 6" away.

I think the C4 will be hard to beat. At least the centre stays put when you turn the wheel, so you stand a chance of being able to find the buttons.

The older Jag XJRs might have the most interior buttons:

I only have 1 on mine. It makes a loud noise when I press it.

Cheaper to mount them on the wheel than on the steering column and the dash. Also, they're in vogue, thus making a it a nice marketing tool for selling new cars, never mind the odd benefit they offer.

yep 21 (incl horn) on the new focus which control "entertainment", voice control, computer display and cruise control etc.
not difficult to understand or use tbh, and fairly useful .

I really like all the buttons on the steering wheel on our C4 Grand Picasso. Means that you can control all the controls without having to take your hands off the steering wheel. Plus because the centre doesn't move all the buttons are always in the same place even if you're turning the wheel.
