Selling the X5 for a Touareg?

Some years back we bought a 2005 X5 3.0d Sport from a family member, and it has been nothing but brilliant. However it is fast approaching 70k miles and I understand these things can get pricy when they go wrong. The last set of tyres cost £800+! Additionally the turbo and some electrical components failed on a friends X5 at 70k and they were left with a £2500 bill. So it's got me thinking about selling it and buying a similar age VW Touareg on the hope that it will be cheaper to maintain.

What are your thoughts and experiences regarding the above?
