RE: M6 to get Geneva debut...
Monday 30th January 2012

BMW will take the virtual wraps off its new M6 in February, before giving its new super-coupe a proper in-the-metal unveiling at the Geneva motor show in early March, according to a post on BMW Blog.
M6 to get Geneva debut...
...at least that's what the interweb says

There's no official detail yet on the new cars, but it's a pretty safe bet that both the coupe and convertible M6 will get the same 560hp, 501lb ft twin-turbo V8 as the F10 M5, along with its 7-speed twin-clutch transmission.
The really big question, of course, is whether the M6 will get as lukewarm a reception as the BMW M5. We'll only be able to tell you that when we get to drive it, of course...
Discussion
Well..the reviews are qualified in many cases...great numbers, doubtless, but some concern about the feel of the car, in particular somewhat lifeless steering. I am not a huge fan of the new 6 styling, though I (apparently alone) liked the last one..and bought a 645 followed by an M6. Evidently, the transmission on the new car is a massive improvement though.

You're not the only one, buddy. I liked the old one, but the new 6er looks rather bloated and bland. I'm not feeling any love for the new car at allI read in the BMW Car Club GB magazine that the forthcoming M6 is likely to feature a further tuned, 600PS version of the M5's V8.
As with the standard cars, the convertible will be launched in June and the coupe from September in the UK.
Or you can order a B6 Bi-Turbo now, with (a probably conservatively rated) 540 PS / 700Nm version of the base 650i engine, with the added potential appeal of no factory limiter and an official top speed of 198 mph. Price TBC.

what lukewarm reception to the M5?
most reviews i've read have been impressed?
Exactly, the only "lukewarm reception" that I have read was that particular article and by his own admission the chap that wrote it is an AMG man and has never driven an M5 before the F10...most reviews i've read have been impressed?
Think he could be missing the point of the M5; they have always been harsher and had more "pent up agression" than their counterparts from Afalterbach, which is surely part of the appeal of an M5.
Horses for courses I guess.
Having driven both the new E63 bi turbo and F10 M5 I know which one I prefer and it doesn't wear a three pointed star!

Probably on about the fact that it has a V8 and turbos and not a naturally aspirated V10, so that it's lost some of it's "purity".most reviews i've read have been impressed?
