Not a good day for me, but bear with me, for I have to set the scene before I come to the salient point.I had to make a trip to the chemist, to pick up my prescription, so once there I parked in a disabled bay, put my badge & timer in the window & clambered out with my stick, to be confronted with a drunken Scottish guy, who almost rendered me intoxicated with the blast of his breath, demanding to know if I liked being God, & doing anything I wanted to!! Seems he took exception to my shiny & smart, if old, Jag, & me using a disabled bay. What seemed like an age later, after he had accused me as the architect of his own miserable existence & demise, (his words, well I think they were, in truth it was just one long strung out jumble of letters), he noticed my stick, asked if I was indeed disabled, & appologised!
So I went on my way, & whilst waiting to be served he came in & started again, asking for a prescripton for a "Mr Prick", presumably me, & loudly told everyone around that he was going to wait until I was finished so he could beat me up for getting in his way & acting "like an arse", & thinking I was better than him!! Long story short (well trying), he goes away & so do I, calling in a the shops for a few essentials. However, this confruntation was still going around in my head, & I went through it again & again, trying to see what he was getting at, or if indeed I was at fault in some way.
I was still going over it when I reversed into a brand new Volvo XC90.
You see, no matter how much I want to blame it on the drunken Scot, he wasn't driving, I was. I allowed this person to get to me, upset me, even though I was just a "Johny-on-the-spot", he could have picked on anyone I know, & now I had balls up big time. Still, would have made him chuckle if he has known I suppose.
So now I have a mangled up rear three quarter on my car, & a nice shiny new Volvo with a stoved in front end. Nice day not!
At least I was spared the embarrassment of the Vovlo owners, as they were in the store. I did leave my details, & they have rung me, & they have taken it well, despite having only owned the car a couple of days. It is a shame that I can't drink, because of my meds, because the vodka bottle is looking very attractive right now!

Sorry I have rambled on, but I had to get it off my chest, if only to try & stop it all going around on a loop inside my head.

Look at it this way - you have insurance that will cover this, and the pissed up idiot will probably wake up dead soon.

You win.

You have a stick, smack him over the head with it while shouting at him to let you go. You'll get a laugh and he won't notice the headache on top of his hangover, everyone wins.

We all have these days sometimes, in a few days time you'll be able to look on it as one of those things. You were in the wrong place at the wrong time and met the idiot. As said above you'll get it all sorted even though it's irritating in the meantime.

Tootle out and buy the latest Evo and read it in a relaxing bath.

Being abused for having a shiny car and a blue badge come with the territory I'm afraid. It's not always some pissed up twerp either.

Sometimes it really does piss me off beyond measure, especially on my bad days. You have my full empathy OP.

Bad luck OP. These things just happen from time to time. At least the owners of the XC90 are being reasonable about it, there are lots of aholes around, especially where car accidents are concerned.

It could always be worse.

Thanks for your collective sympathies folks, I know in the scheme of things it is no disaster so I will just he gets his when the time is right. To balance his negativity, the owners of the Volvo have been great, despite it being a brand new car, & have done much to make me feel better. I only hope that my insurance company deals with it swiftly & well for them.

If you are going to hit another Car the front is probably the best bit to hit as its easily replaced (bolt on plastic bits rather than metal) not so good about your's though. Hopefully the drunk didn't hang about to see it happen !

I prescribe a dose of prospective. Watch Carl Sagan - Pale blue dot. Then move on.

I know how you feel. I tend to worry about things, and relive moments in my head wondering what I could have done differently as well. Little things can really bug me and get me down and I often can't get them out of my head. As above, I try to look at things with perspective, and it usually helps me get over things. You can't fix everything. It's a shame he's out drunk abusing people, but there was very little you could have really done to have made a difference.

I hope they vote for independence. If they do, we must not make the same mistake we made with the Irish Republic. We must insist on no entry into England without a passport at least, and preferabley, a bloody visa.

A bad day for sure, but one covered by insurance. Anyone can make a parking err - you've just been unlucky with what was behind you. No one injured - happy days indeed. It would have been ironic had said drunkard been inspecting your rear bumper at the time wink
